Day 1 - Orange
The festival begins with the bright and vibrant orange. This color means energy and happiness. Hindus worship the goddess Shailputri on this day.
Day 2 - White
White is the color for day 2, which is a symbol of peace and purity. Hindus worship the goddess Brahmacharini on this day.
Day 3 - Red
People wear red on the third day of Navratri. It means beauty and courage. Hindus worship the goddess Chandraghanta on this day.
Day 4 - Royal Blue
The color of navratri's fourth day is royal blue. This color is considered good for health and wealth. Hindus worship the Goddess Kushmanda on this day.
Day 5 - Yellow
People wear the yellow color on the fifth day of the festival. Color represents happiness and brightness. Hindus worship the goddess Skandamata on the 5th.
Day 6 - Green
This sixth-day color means new beginnings and growth. Hindus worship the goddess Katyayani on the 6th.
Day 7 - Grey
The color of the seventh day is gray, a color that represents the force of transformation. Hindus worship the Goddess Kalaratri on the 6th and this day is called Saptami.
Day 8 - Purple
Called Ashtami, many people make kanjaks on this day. The color of the day, purple, means the power of intellect and peace. People worship the Goddess Mahagauri on this day.
Day 9 - Peacock Green
This day is called Navami and is the last day of the Navratri festival. Rituals are performed on this day and the Goddess Siddhidhatri is worshipped. It is believed that the peacock green color fulfills the wishes of devotees.
The 9-day festival begins in Vijayadashami or Dussehra, which is the tenth day of the festivities. Dussehra as we all know means the victory of good over evil. However, stories vary from region to region. The people of the south, east and northeast celebrate this day as the victory of Maa Durga, also known as Durga Puja.
